State-Owned Properties for Projects to Generate Electricity from Renewable Sources

This project was supporting the Chilean Government in making state-owned properties available for private investments to expand the use of renewable energy. Above all in northern Chile, there are large contiguous areas of land without any competing uses. The project was identifying, assessing and marketing suitable properties. A project priority was a wind-measuring campaign in the north of the country. Furthermore, feasibility studies examined the technical and economic issues associated with project development. The selected sites were awarded to private developers through a bidding process.
