Strengthening climate actions in Ukrainian communities
Ukraine is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and has identified agriculture, water resources, energy, transportation, health, the urban environment and forests, and coastal zone management as key adaptation priorities. As a result of recent decentralization reforms, communities have more autonomy in decision-making, receiving a significant share of taxes. However, international climate commitments are not yet adequately linked to national policies.
The project supports the participatory development of mitigation measures in selected municipalities accompanied by various knowledge-building formats, including participation of municipalities in national processes. In addition, two municipal climate protection measures will be co-funded, as well as participation in climate legislation processes.
