Biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration

The course is a perfect opportunity to learn how to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and restoration of disturbed ecosystems in Africa, through the improvement of the capacities of professionals.

After the course the participants will be:

• aware of fundamental concepts related to nature-based solutions, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration
• aware of the international environment on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration (international conventions and mechanisms – stressing on CBD, IPBES, the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework-KMBF, the 30x30 strategy) and its links with national strategies (uptake of international strategies at the national level, i.e., KMBF and NBSAPs etc.)
• aware of the potential roles of IPBES and Science-Policy-Practice Interfaces (SPPI) for the conservation of biodiversity and restoration of disturbed ecosystems in Africa
• able to develop nature-based and contextualised biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration strategies
