Building inclusive and climate-sensitive cities: Urban Planning Solutions from the Global South

Discover how cities are driving climate action through innovative urban planning in ‘Empowering Climate-conscious Cities: Mainstreaming climate action into urban planning. Solutions from the Global South’ – a networking event at the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) in Cairo, Egypt, on 5 November 2024, 17:00 – 18:30 hrs. (GMT+3) at Multipurpose Room 15, Egypt International Exhibition Center.

This networking event, organised by GIZ, through the Urban-Act project, including ANDUS, Cidade Presente, and CitiesAdapt in collaboration with UCLG ASPAC, features a city-to-city exchange. The exchange includes a panel discussion and knowledge sharing with representatives from secondary cities in India, South Africa, the Philippines, Mexico and Brazil. They will share practical strategies for embedding climate action into urban development.

With a focus on gender-responsive and pro-poor approaches, the event fosters collaboration towards sustainable and inclusive urban futures.

Moderated by Dr Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, Secretary General, UCLG ASPAC, and Carmen Vogt, Lead of Global Action Cities, GIZ.
