Exploiting an Untapped Mitigation Potential: Options to Reduce Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) Emissions in the Electricity Sector and How to Finance Them

Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) is the strongest known greenhouse gas, 24,000 times as damaging for the climate as CO2. The significant emission reduction potential, especially in energy infrastructure, remains largely untapped. The event presents emission scenarios as well as mitigation options, including their cost-benefit-analysis. It will then discuss options to finance SF6 emission reductions, including carbon market mechanisms.
