International Forum for Coal Regions in Transition

The International Forum for Coal Regions in Transition is an annual policy dialogue bringing together stakeholders from coal regions worldwide to exchange insights, share good practices, and address challenges while exploring innovative solutions for just energy transitions.

The 2025 edition will be held on 14 October 2025 in Samarinda, Indonesia, and online, under the banner of Indonesia Sustainable Energy Week Goes Regional (ISEWGR).

This year’s programme will examine the role of local governments in enabling renewable energy investment, strategies for economic diversification in coal regions, and international lessons from other transition contexts. The event will run in a hybrid format with simultaneous interpretation in English and Bahasa Indonesian.

Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email with the YouTube link for online streaming and directions to the event venue for in-person participants.
