Online seminar: IKI Country Call Colombia 2024
The Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy (Ministerio de Minas y Energía) is hosting an online seminar on the IKI Country Call Colombia.
The International Climate Initiative (IKI) finances climate, adaptation and biodiversity projects exclusively with countries receiving Official Development Assistance. The aim is to fund projects that apply holistic, multi-level approaches and, above all, demonstrate how to practically implement climate action, adaptation and biodiversity conservation on the ground (including policy advice, capacity building, technology cooperation, investment and local implementation in particular). This country call addresses current challenges in climate action, adaptation, biodiversity and conservation in an IKI priority country such as Colombia. For these challenges, thematic priorities with respective objectives are defined.
Thematic Priority Ministry of Mines and Energy: Roll-out of renewable energies and economic diversification for a just coal phase-out
Overall objective: Contribute to the accelerated and socially just elimination of coal infrastructure, reducing Greenhouse Gases from the energy sector, as well as promote a just transition to an energy matrix based on renewable energies with substantial socio-economic benefits for local communities (including capacity building) with an emphasis on economic diversification and re-industrialisation that will drive the implementation of sustainable energy projects over time.
