REPLÂNTICA project at European Conference of Tropical Ecology 2026 ‘SPECIES – ECOSYSTEMS – PEOPLE’ in Passau
From February 23 to 26, ecologists will convene in Passau for the annual conference of the Society for Tropical Ecology (gtö) to exchange the latest scientific findings. The REPLÂNTICA project is a capacity-building initiative aimed at developing science-based, tailored training programs for various stakeholder groups involved in forest restoration within Brazil’s Mata Atlântica, the Atlantic Coastal Forest. As part of REPLÂNTICA, several approaches for forest restoration have been identified and inspired the organization of a session at the gtö, designed to bring together researchers and practitioners to share insights on the methods that contribute to successful forest restoration. Despite the existence of numerous forest restoration projects, many fail to achieve their goals, highlighting the need to emphasize and disseminate effective strategies. The objective of this session is to present diverse forest restoration approaches to a scientific audience - delivered by both academics and practitioners - to enable a well-balanced North-South exchange and to promote successful restoration pathways.
