Ukraine's Climate Dialogue: Policy Developments and German Partnership on the EU Path
Acknowledging Ukraine's efforts to counter Russia's full-scale war and its accelerated EU integration, the Ukrainian government is prioritizing aligning its legislation with the EU acquis, focusing on the EU Green Deal and climate action.
The upcoming event seeks to promote collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders to advance climate-related reforms in Ukraine.
The participants will discuss Ukraine's current activities and progress in implementing climate policy and preparing for the EU accession negotiation process, as well as present projects and initiatives within the framework of German-Ukrainian cooperation in climate-related areas and the role of the German Government in this process. Moreover, one of the panels will be dedicated to the biodiversity and nature based solutions in green recovery and the role of civil society, foundations, and think tanks in this process.
As a result participants will identify additional needs for Ukraine to implement necessary European climate reforms, including the creation of an optimal climate governance architecture to further strengthen Ukraine's climate ambitions.
The event is hosted by Capacities for Climate Action (C4CA) project, which is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) under the International Climate Initiative (IKI), co-financed by the European Union and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
