Weaving Urban Futures for a Global Mutirão
Organized by United Nations University (UNU) and the Transformative Urban Coalitions (TUC) consortium, Weaving Urban Futures for a Global Mutirão is a photo exhibition that explores the transformative power of strengthening and building capacities for collective action in urban contexts, drawing inspiration from Latin America. The exhibition is inspired by grassroots practices in the region that emphasize solidarity and cooperation for the common good, known as Mutirão in Brazil, Tequio in Mexico, Minga in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Featuring the work of the five Urban Labs in León and Naucalpan in Mexico, Teresina and Recife in Brazil, and Buenos Aires in Argentina established under the TUC project, Weaving Urban Futures for a Global Mutirão invites viewers to witness the strength and beauty of Mutirão. Through this lens, shared responsibility and collective action call to reimagine cities as spaces of solidarity in which a shared purpose can unite us through the art of capacity-building: moments of collaboration, creativity and inspiration.
