Women in Ocean Conservation: behind the scenes of the documentary "Maré Viva, Maré Morta" (live tide, dead tide)

On 19 November 2025 (16:30–22:00) at the Ocean House (Casa do Oceano), outside the official COP30 venue, the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA), GIZ/TerraMar, and Voice of the Ocean invite you to a special event: “Women in Ocean Conservation: the guardians of marine protected areas and behind the scenes of the documentary Maré Viva, Maré Morta (Live Tide, Dead Tide).”

The event begins with a roundtable discussion featuring First Lady Janja da Silva, COP30 Special Envoy for the Ocean Marinez Scherer, the film’s director, and traditional fisherwomen, highlighting the essential role of women in protecting Brazil’s marine ecosystems. The dialogue will be followed by a documentary screening, offering a powerful portrayal of women’s leadership, resilience, and connection to the ocean.
