IKI project is making information on energy efficiency in buildings available in Chinese.

Energy efficiency in buildings is the focus of the Green Building Conference taking place on 30–31 March in Beijing. The knowledge platform bigee.net presented content from its website, which is now available in Chinese.

A third of energy-related CO2 emissions worldwide can be traced back to consumption by buildings. There is therefore an urgent need for a new mind-set in the buildings sector in order to achieve CO2 reductions. Expertise available on this topic is available in many forms, but actors in developing countries and emerging economies often have difficulty accessing it. As these countries are experiencing a steady increase in built-up areas and a corresponding rise in energy and resource consumption with often negative impacts on climate change goals, they would particularly benefit from an exchange of knowledge.

The bigEE project, which is funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Environment Ministry (BMUB), is addressing this problem by pooling comprehensible, independent and comprehensive information on energy efficiency in buildings and making it available on the online platform bigee.net. It provides guidance to policy-makers and on sustainable investment decisions, helping to ease their implementation. In this way the project contributes to global knowledge management and knowledge transfer.

In recent years, a broad base of information was compiled on the website bigee.net and a network of partners was simultaneously set up.
