South Africa: Conserving Nature and Heritage for Livelihoods
With support from Germany’s IKI Small Grants, the !Kwha ttu museum, eco-tourism lodge and heritage centre successfully restored and preserved it’s surrounding natural landscape. The project created the conditions for the Centre’s 850 hectares farm to become legally proclaimed as a conservation area. The organisation aims to become a self-sustaining social enterprise that protects biodiversity and cultural heritage while providing jobs to local community members through tourism and education.
