What is the International Climate Initiative (IKI)?
The International Climate Initiative (IKI) is an important component of the German government's international climate and biodiversity financing.
The IKI is supporting ODA-eligible countries in implementing and ambitiously developing the climate targets (Nationally Determined Contributions, NDCs) enshrined in the Paris Agreement. This includes measures to adapt to the effects of climate change and to preserve and restore natural carbon sinks, taking into account ecological, economic and social concerns. With regard to biological diversity, the IKI also supports its partner countries in achieving the goals of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
This animation provides a brief overview of the scope and funding areas of Germany's International Climate Initiative (IKI).
