Country specific selection procedure

In country specific selection procedures BMU together with the government of the partner country develops topics for bilateral IKI projects. For these thematic funding priorities project outlines can be submitted during the competitive calls. The selection process consists of two stages and takes place in close cooperation with the partner country.

During the first stage, BMU makes a preliminary selection of promising project outlines taking into account foreign and development policy criteria as well as available budget funds. Applicants are informed in writing of the results of the evaluation.

For the second state, the lead implementing organisations of promising project outlines receive a written invitation to submit a formal project proposal. They then have up to eight months to draft the proposal and can request funding e.g. for studies, country missions, or planning workshops with partner institutions (so called preparation phase).

The full project proposal will be subsequently evaluated by BMU and serve as a basis for its decision whether to fund the project. The respective requirements and templates for this process will be provided once the first stage of the procedure is completed.
