Innovative Sustainable Finance Solutions for Tropical Forests (ForestFlow)

Mesoamerica is a global biodiversity hotspot with extensive forests, yet the region continues to face deforestation, climate shocks, and rural poverty. Producers face dual pressures: the need to increase agricultural productivity to sustain livelihoods while simultaneously enhancing forest cover to meet environmental and biodiversity objectives. Forest Flow brings together governments, rural communities, Indigenous Peoples, financial institutions and private companies to spark a major shift in how forests and farmland are financed and managed. Public forest funding is linked with private investment and climate finance to promote forest conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable agriculture. The project tackles structural inequalities by focusing on gender equality, women’s empowerment and social inclusion.
