International forest-related climate finance

Forests are complex ecosystems, which fulfil many functions. They also have a major global role as carbon sinks. The project improved the effectiveness of climate financing approaches that have a positive impact on forest conservation. In the partner countries capacities were increased to reduce emissions from forest and land use. The project pursued three active approaches aimed at achieving more climate protection through the strengthening of forests: At the international level, the issue of climate financing was better positioned and more private involvement in this area was encouraged. The cooperation of stakeholders was also improved, resulting in more efficient implementation of forest-relevant climate financing and better achievement of the goals of the New York Declaration on Forests. In addition, it improved the coordination of donors, who were responsible for climate financing and knowledge transfer from the project activities.
