NDC Peru II: support to the implementation of the National Climate Change Strategy
Peru is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change while being rich in biodiversity. In 2020, the country raised its ambitions for emission reduction and climate resilience. The project supports the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). It responds to technical support requests and promotes urgent actions for the implementation of the NDCs and the long-term climate strategy up to 2050. To this end, it identifies measures to accelerate progress in the energy and forestry sectors and to strengthen climate governance. Within the framework of the German–Peruvian climate partnership, the project fosters exchange between authorities, experts, and cooperation projects. It also supports the establishment of a Gender Community of Practice linked to the national climate governance system.
