PREVENT – Providing Support to Delegations from Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) for the Post-2012 Negotiations
The purpose of the project was to provide scientific and analytical support to the delegations from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the course of the further post-2012 negotiations. This support was provided when requested by delegations. Briefing papers and analyses were prepared for this purpose. A specially adapted computer model helped to rapidly capture the links between greenhouse gas emission reductions or warming scenarios and climate change impacts for specific regions in developing countries. In addition, capacity has been built by training and integrating experts from these countries. Experts supported negotiators during the negotiations.
