Training Programme Think Tanks Energy & Climate
Accelerating the transition to decarbonized power systems and industrial sectors is critical to achieving global climate neutrality. This is especially urgent in emerging and developing economies, where emissions are expected to grow significantly alongside economic development. Local think tanks and civil society actors are key to this shift but often lack skills and influence. Strengthening their role helps shape smarter policies and drive a fair, low-carbon transformation in power and industry. This project supports that by training professionals – with a special focus on women – from think tanks and civil society organisations in Latin America, Southeast Asia and beyond. They gain skills to develop practical, evidence-based solutions, shape public debate and support climate-friendly policies. Through regional partnerships, co-development and a global network, the project empowers local voices to drive change for a just and sustainable transformation.

State of implementation/results
- The project supports professionals from think tanks and civil society organisations (CSO) in Latin America (LATAM), Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond to strengthen their role in shaping climate and energy policy.
- Cooperation structures have been set up between consortium partners Agora Think Tanks gGmbH and E+ Energy Transition Institute to coordinate activities in LATAM. In SEA, activities involve coordination with Agora’s regional office in Bangkok and collaboration with regional institutions such as the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE).
- A global network of participants and partner organisations is being established to promote long-term collaboration and exchange of knowledge on climate-friendly energy systems and industrial transformation.
- As of 03/2026 the project is in the preparation phase for upcoming activities, including:
- Coordination between consortium partners and regional collaborators
- Development, recruitment and implementation of a LATAM Train-the-Trainer format (to take place in Q3 2026 in Brazil)
- Development and implementation of CSO Dialogue with Brazilian stakeholders (to take place in Q3 2026 in Brazil)
