Electromobility for reducing GHG-emissions in urban transportation (MaZero)

As urbanization increases in Southern African nations, it results in increased traffic, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental damage, necessitating urgent action. The proposed project mainstreams renewable energy-based gender-responsive e-mobility in Maseru’s transport sector. The project centres on establishing a comprehensive smart and open-access e-mobility platform, empowering women to be active stakeholders. It aims to engage diverse groups including students, healthcare workers, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and the private sector, strengthening both knowledge and capability while forming a local e-mobility network. This includes installing smart charging stations, piloting e-vehicles, holding training and workshops, and integrating gender-responsive decision-making processes, serving Southern African cities as a scalable blueprint for sustainable transportation.
