Supporting Colombia’s Just Energy Transition, climate resilience, and food security by introducing inclusive agri-photovoltaic systems (JET- AgriSOL)
Rural communities in Colombia face challenges from climate change, intermittent energy supply, and low farm incomes. The project introduces agrivoltaic (APV) systems that combine solar energy and agriculture on the same land, helping farmers produce both food and clean electricity. The project supports communities and agribusinesses in adopting and testing APV solutions, strengthening local skills, and supporting the development of financial tools to improve access to investment. Focusing on women, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) often excluded from the clean energy transition, the project works with research centres, the private sector, and policymakers to generate knowledge and create the conditions for scaling APV across Colombia. By linking energy, agriculture, and value addition, the project promotes climate-resilient solutions that strengthen local economies and improve livelihoods in Colombia’s most vulnerable rural areas
