Biodiversity National Platform Launch: Valuing Ecosystem Services of Armenia
The event marks the official launch of the Armenia National Biodiversity Platform for Ecosystem Services Valuation, a multi-stakeholder mechanism established through the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net) Armenia. The platform aims to bring together representatives from science, policy, business and local communities to support evidence-based biodiversity decision-making.
The workshop will feature presentations from UNDP Armenia, government representatives and private-sector stakeholders on nature-based solutions, biodiversity policy, ecosystem services valuation, and business approaches to assessing dependencies and impacts on biodiversity. Participants will then engage in facilitated roundtable discussions focusing on science, policy and business perspectives to identify priority pilot sites and ecosystem services for assessment in Armenia.
The event contributes to implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, particularly Target 14 on integrating biodiversity values into decision-making, Target 15 on business assessment of biodiversity dependencies and impacts, and Target 22 on inclusive and participatory governance. The recommendations generated during the workshop will support the National Biodiversity Platform in selecting pilot sites and advancing ecosystem services valuation in Armenia.
