Leveraging synergies on nature-based solutions and climate action for NDC and NAP implementation in agrifood systems
Join us at COP29 for the side event “Leveraging Synergies on Nature-Based Solutions and Climate Action for NDC and NAP Implementation in Agrifood Systems.” This event, organized by FAO and UNDP under the Scaling up Climate Ambition on Land Use and Agriculture (SCALA) programme, builds on the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which emphasizes integrating biodiversity and climate action to address these interconnected challenges.
Representatives from government, civil society, the private sector, and donor communities will come together to explore how nature-based solutions can strengthen resilience in agrifood systems, enhance food security, and address biodiversity and climate goals. The session will feature a keynote from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, Ulf Jaeckel; followed by insights from UNEP’s Head of Adaptation, Jessica Troni, on integrated solutions for climate adaptation.
A panel discussion will provide diverse perspectives on real-world applications, challenges, and opportunities for scaling nature-based adaptation. Join us to gain insights on effective Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plans implementation in agrifood systems through collaborative, ecosystem-based approaches that support sustainable development in vulnerable regions.
