Proyectos regionales en el Pacífico oriental tropical y sudeste y su contribución a las metas del Marco Global de Biodiversidad Kunming-Montreal

The event seeks to strengthen the position of Colombia and its strategic allies as leaders in the conservation and sustainable management of marine and coastal resources in the eastern tropical and southeastern Pacific region. To this end, a space will be provided for the technical exchange of knowledge and experiences, in order to promote the effective implementation of projects at the national and regional level that benefit both local communities and the environment. This approach will contribute significantly to the objectives of COP16 and the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (MGB-KM).

In addition, the event will include the discussion and development of projections for the year 2030 in this Pacific region, identifying strategies and actions necessary to achieve the goals of the MGB-KM. The importance of the participation of local communities in conservation projects will be highlighted, evaluating the socioeconomic and ecological benefits derived from their involvement and proposing strategies to increase both their participation and the benefits they obtain.

The event is specifically aligned with several MGB-KM goals: Goal 1 (integrated participatory spatial planning), Goal 3 (protected areas and OMEC), Goal 4 (protection of threatened species), Goal 11 (ecosystem services and risk management), Goal 14 (integration of biodiversity into policies and decision-making) and Goals 22 and 23 (inclusive participation, gender approach and differential approach).
