Registration: IKI Youth Event – Learning from Practice

Young people are greatly affected by climate change and biodiversity loss and are campaigning worldwide for a just and sustainable future. Despite this, their voices often go unheard, and their potential remains untapped. Yet their ideas, knowledge, skills, and commitment are essential for tackling today's and tomorrow's global challenges.

With the IKI Youth Event: Learning from Practice, we would like to provide a platform for IKI implementing organisations to exchange experiences from their work at the intersection of climate and biodiversity action and youth engagement. The aim is to highlight common challenges and success factors, while strengthening networking and exchange within the IKI community.

As part of the event, the IKI project “Nurseries for Youth Development Project (NYDP): From tree nurseries to implemented farm forestry and afforestation” will share insights into its experiences and approaches to working with young people. Implemented by the Andreas Hermes Academy together with KENAFF, the NYDP project supports youth-led tree nurseries and sustainable reforestation efforts in Kenya. Through trainings, capacity building activities, and the establishment of up to 20 tree nurseries, the project empowers young people in the field of agroforestry while contributing to climate adaptation and reforestation.

Additionally, there will be space for exchange and discussion.

Take this opportunity to discuss approaches, experiences, and challenges related to youth participation with other IKI projects. We would also appreciate it if you could forward this invitation to two or three young people from your project so that their perspectives can become part of the exchange as well.
