Information on “IKI Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation”
As of January 2026
Any questions regarding Standard Indicator 1? Register here for our Q&A Sessions
To help IKI projects with the upcoming interim report for 2025, we are offering two Q&A sessions on Standard Indicator 1 Mitigation: Wednesday 04.03.2026 (8.00-10.00 CET) and Thursday 05.03.2026 (16.00-18.00 CET)
The sessions provide space for questions of IKI projects on reporting and calculating mitigation effects across different sectors. As such, interests and needs of the participants determine the content of the sessions. Registration ends on 1 March 2026.
Note: Please note that you will need to confirm your registration once by email (double opt-in).
More about IKI Standard Indicator 1 and the material on this page
To capture the overarching mitigation effects of the International Climate Initiative (IKI), IKI projects have to report their direct and/or indirect mitigation effects in tonnes of CO2 equivalents through Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation. In doing so, they have to apply internationally recognised methodologies and make transparent any assumptions or parameters used in the Standard Indicator Report (IKI Template). On this page, IKI projects and funds will find templates and guidance for reporting on Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation.
The section “Documents on IKI Standard Indicator 1” contains the IKI Guidelines on Project Planning and Monitoring and the IKI Template Annex 7 Standard Indicator Report. These are the 2 core materials with relevant definitions and basic information on reporting. Additionally, sector-specific guidelines and examples of Annex7 provide in-depth information on estimating mitigation effects for the sectors:
- Energy;
- Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU);
- Mobility / transport;
- Buildings;
- Finance
The section “Recordings of the seminars” provides videos of sector-specific online seminars on Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation.
A general tutorial shows how to navigate and enter data in Annex7 Standard Indicator Report.

Recordings of the seminars
As a support for IKI projects, the IKI together with The Greenwerk and Perspectives Group hosted four webinars on Standard Indicator 1 – Mitigation with a focus on different sectors. Each online seminar starts with an introduction to the Standard Indicator 1 and the IKI Standard Indicator Report (Excel Tool). In the main part, established methodologies for estimating mitigation impacts as well as sample calculations for the respective sector are shared.
