Tracking Global Climate Finance Flows – Insights from the Global Landscape of Climate Finance 2024

An aerial view of a vibrant coastal landscape featuring turquoise lagoons surrounded by rugged rock formations and lush green vegetation, with waves breaking along the shoreline.

Following the decision on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) at COP 29 in Baku, understanding the state of climate finance has never been more vital. The Global Landscape of Climate Finance 2024, published by Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), is the most comprehensive assessment of global climate finance flows to date. Covering the years 2018 to 2022, this edition maps out who is funding climate action, where the money is going, and how it measures up against the scale of need.

This IKI Brown Bag Lunch presented key findings from the report, including insights into both mitigation and adaptation finance, public and private investment trends, and the persistent gaps facing developing countries. It also offered a space for dialogue around how this data can inform and support global efforts to operationalize the NCQG and enhance alignment and impact in finance delivery on the road to COP30 in Belém. An outlook for the future was also provided.
