Peruvian entrepreneurs for biodiversity-friendly business models

Empowering entrepreneurs with IKI support to Enhance Access to Impact Investments
During the month of June, entrepreneurs with business models geared towards biodiversity conservation took part in an intensive preparatory workshop (Bootcamp) as part of the "Impact Investment Readiness Program" supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI). This program aims to strengthening entrepreneurial capabilities and the development of key tools for effectively seeking impact investments.
At the opening of the workshop, Elvis García, the Director General of Environmental Economics and Financing at the Peruvian Ministry of the Environment, highlighted the importance of mobilizing both public and private capital to support these business models. He also expressed appreciation for the great reception and participation of the new group of companies.
Throughout the session, entrepreneurs received technical and communication training focusing on refining their oral presentation skills for their business model (pitch deck). They further reinforced the construction of the impact reports, practiced storytelling techniques and methods to apply for impact financing. Additionally, they expanded their networks through face-to-face interactions with impact investors.
At the workshop, a successful case was presented featuring "La Campiña", a company that participated in the first edition of the program, in 2022. Its representative, Llancarlo Seclén, shared insights into the credit financing opportunities they could access. Reflecting on their journey, he remarked, "We arrived without knowing anything about impact investment, but now we have managed to leverage $200,000 as working capital."
