The Central American Integration System (SICA), an intergovernmental organization of Central American states, is one of the pioneers in forest and landscape restoration. Moreover, SICA offers investment opportunities for the public and private sector on a national and regional scale.

At the Global Landscape Forum 2019 in Luxembourg, representatives of the project "Regional Landscape-based Reconstruction of Forest Ecosystems in Central America and the Dominican Republic (REDD-Landscape/CCAD)" discussed the potential of such investments with representatives of the public and private sectors. Their main focus was on perspectives on how to create an enabling environment for business models and appropriate mechanisms for landscape investments on a scale suitable for public and private impacts and mainstream investors.

During the session, the participants also exchanged views on current experiences in Central America. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the potential for public-private cooperation and enhanced regional integration of investment strategies.
