From Pastures to Power: Mongolian NGO Empowers Herder Women
Arkhangai Province in central Mongolia has diverse landscapes with high peaks and fertile valleys. For local communities, this picturesque environment is a key income source: many are herders. Yet climate-related challenges threaten their livelihoods. Through IKI Small Grants - Germany’s local climate and biodiversity action programme - the NGO Mongolian Women’s Fund (MONES) supported herders, especially women, in climate adaptation. The project received the Energy Globe Award.
