India’s building sector is undergoing a transformative phase, marked by rapid urbanization and economic expansion. Buildings account for more than 30% of India’s electricity usage, and this figure is expected to rise dramatically, posing a significant challenge to the country’s climate commitments under the Paris Agreement, COP26, and its Net Zero Emissions (NZE) targets. Recognizing the urgency, the IKI-funded ALCBT project has developed a comprehensive set of draft policy recommendations.
