Tales of Carbonia: Can a new role-play game support just transition negotiations?
A new multiplayer simulation game, developed by the Wuppertal Institute and the Centre for Systems Solutions under the IKI JET project, was trialled in coal regions of Colombia and Indonesia. It helps local stakeholders strengthen negotiation skills and explore just energy transition scenarios from multiple perspectives. In October 2024, trials in Indonesia’s East Kalimantan and South Sumatra included participants from unions, coal companies, NGOs, government, and civil society.
