Forest Conservation Mata Atlântica II
The project targeted efforts to preserve, sustainably use and restore the Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest) for the purpose of ensuring the livelihoods of the rural population living there. The project called for investment and advisory services aimed at expanding the system of protected areas, introducing systems of remuneration for environmental services, and establishing a monitoring system.

State of implementation/results
- Project completed
- Transfer systems and mechanisms for payment of ecosystem services for almost 900.000 hectares have been established taking account of almost 2.000 families
- Monitoring information with regard to the forest cover of carbon storage and -sinks as well as for biodiversity have been developed and disseminated
- 397.798 hectares have been designated as federal protected areas
- Seven community plans regarding the protection and restoration of the Mata Atlantica have been developed
