Dialogue and Information Platform for the Colombian Amazon
The Amazonian rainforest is one of the world’s biggest diversity hotspots. At the same time, the region also has an immense capacity to act as a carbon sink. The project strengthed REDD+ activities conducted by the national government and international donors in the Colombian Amazon. This magnified their positive effects for protecting the climate and biodiversity. The project was also setting up a REDD+ dialogue and information platform for a number of regions. The platform is managed by civil-society actors and supported by local authorities. At the heart of the platform is an information system that provides information about policy initiatives, projects and development programmes run by government agencies and NGOs. The work of these actors was extended and improved by multi-stakeholder meetings, as well as education and training courses for participants.
