Six new IKI projects launched
Here you will find an overview of the funding areas in which our latest projects have been launched.
Since 2008, the German Federal Government has been supporting climate action and biodiversity conversation through the International Climate Initiative (IKI). More than 1,000 projects in around 150 partner countries have been supported with a total of almost 7 billion euros.
In India, a new project focuses on decarbonising the logistics sector. In Europe, the IKI will support the first Climate and Energy Transition Partnership between Germany and Kosovo. Another new project on market-based climate instruments in partner countries will focus on a pilot project in rice cultivation and on cooperation and exchange. A new training programme will support professionals - with a special focus on women - from think tanks and civil society organisations in the energy and climate sector in Latin America, Southeast Asia and beyond.
In the area of adaptation, a new project in Mexico focuses on water scarcity and aims to improve the framework for climate-resilient water management in the Valle de México. In Costa Rica, a new project will strengthen urban biodiversity by integrating biodiversity and climate resilience considerations into local planning tools.
Taken together, these projects illustrate the broad thematic and geographical coverage of the IKI - from low-emission logistics and carbon markets to climate-smart water management and biodiversity-based urban resilience.
New in funding area I: Mitigating greenhouse gas emissions
New in funding area II: Adaptation to the impacts of climate change
New in funding area IV: Conserving biological diversity
We look forward to working together and wish the IKI implementing organisations and their partners a good start to the project!
