Over 100,000 migratory birds make Pong their home during migratory season. This includes one of the largest congregations of the Bar-headed Goose, making it a wetland of international importance. The lake also provides livelihood to over 2700 fishermen with an annual fish production of over 400 tonnes while the unique habitats and rich biodiversity offer potential for ecotourism. At a time when wetlands are facing the challenges of extensive drainage, reclamation and climate change, let us take forward and maintain this balance of conservation and wise use of our wetlands.

This film was produced as part of the IKI project "Wetlands Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protection" by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India.
