Connecting Knowledge and Data to Strengthen National Implementation, Monitoring and Reporting of the Global Biodiversity Framework
The Draft Global Report on Collective Progress offers the first evidence-based assessment of implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It highlights progress, but also persistent challenges, including fragmented monitoring systems, limited capacity and significant data gaps.
This side event explores how countries are addressing these challenges through the National Monitoring Support Initiative. Country and Regional Partners, including Colombia, South Africa and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, will demonstrate how tools, direct technical support and peer learning can help address national monitoring challenges. The session will also introduce two complementary tools: the Knowledge Support Service for Biodiversity and the Target Tracker.
