From Reporting to Action: Responding to the Global Review through Strengthening National Monitoring Systems

The Draft Global Report on Collective Progress offers the first evidence-based assessment of implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It highlights progress, but also persistent challenges, including fragmented monitoring systems, limited capacity and significant data gaps.

Through this side event, the Initiative will bring together country and regional organizations to share experiences from the reporting process undertaken earlier this year, reflecting on the challenges encountered, lessons learned, and approaches to addressing them. The event will also showcase tools, resources and expertise available to help countries address common monitoring challenges, including the UN Biodiversity Lab and the Knowledge Support Service and a summary mapping of organizations available to support countries with monitoring across different targets, drawing on their extensive and long-standing knowledge, tools and capacity development programmes.
