Side Event #7913. Protecting Pollinators, Transforming Food Systems: A Regional Pathway for Implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework
GIZ, through the Regional Poli-LAC Project, will organise this side event to explore how regional cooperation for pollinator conservation can contribute to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, while also promoting greater integration of biodiversity into agricultural and food production systems.
The objective is to provide a space for dialogue and exchange among government representatives from Brazil, Mexico and Peru, as well as international organisations and other regional stakeholders, to share experiences and practical solutions aimed at strengthening pollinator protection.
The discussion will address policy approaches to integrating biodiversity conservation into the agricultural and other productive sectors, incorporating pollinator-related measures and indicators into National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans, as well as experiences with biodiversity-friendly agricultural practices and the conservation of ecosystem services in productive landscapes. It will also explore opportunities to strengthen regional cooperation, knowledge exchange and institutional coordination in support of national pollinator protection strategies.
