Conectividad en el Pacífico Oriental: patrimonio de la región, beneficio para el mundo
The Comisión Permanente del Pacífico Sur (CPPS) and the Corredor Marino del Pacífico Este Tropical (CMAR) are the instruments to strengthen the potential for the formation of the “Pacific System” and position it as a reference for other global processes on connectivity.
This event is an opportunity to discuss opportunities with relevant actors and create synergies to advance towards better regional governance that ensures compliance with the goals set out under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Panel of experts where key aspects will be discussed such as:
- Knowing the CPPS and CMAR initiatives: Understanding and discussing regional governance processes in the Eastern Pacific (instruments) that promote regional harmonization
- Building networks for the connectivity of the region: discussing the importance of MPAs, areas of ecological importance and marine corridors in connectivity
- Learning from the past: appropriating good practices and lessons learned as an example for regional and global marine conservation
- Identifying some connectivity ambassadors: learning and discussing successful conservation actions for migratory marine megafauna
