Climate Finance Innovations for Buildings: Opportunities for Development Banks and Carbon Markets
This session explores how carbon finance, public finance, and development banks can bridge the investment gap for low-carbon and resilient buildings. Two high-level panels will examine practical pathways and policy innovations: Panel 1 highlights how countries can harness Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to mobilize climate finance for the buildings sector. It will feature the launch of a handbook for policymakers and share national experiences to illustrate effective project design, integrity criteria, and emerging methodologies. Panel 2 focuses on the role of public and development finance institutions in scaling investments for climate-friendly buildings. Finance leaders and policymakers will discuss strategies to align portfolios, de-risk projects, and unlock capital for the transformation of the building sector.
