Gaming the local sustainable energy transition

Transforming our energy systems is crucial for effective climate action. Adopting renewable energy sources, including resources for clean cooking, results in numerous benefits across socio-economic, environmental, climate, and health domains, particularly when carried out in an equitable manner.

Speakers from three regions will share their experiences and insights on tackling local energy challenges. We will address crucial questions: how can we accelerate the adoption of renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency measures, and clean cooling solutions while adhering to principles of justice, inclusivity, and equity?

The session will conclude with a 'serious game'. Participants will step into the roles of various local government stakeholders to confront a specific energy challenge. This immersive experience aims to deepen understanding of the hurdles localities face regarding renewable energy and clean cooking access, and spur discussion on viable, impactful solutions.
