Unlocking Sustainable Investment in Nature-based Solutions for Climate Action
This side event will present a compelling business case for nature-based solutions as cost-effective approaches to address climate resilience challenges and advance climate adaptation efforts. It will emphasize the economic and practical benefits of integrating nature-based solutions into climate adaptation and risk reduction strategies. In particular, the event will advocate for accelerating investments in Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA), drawing from the past 10 years of experience of UNEP and its partners in implementing EbA projects across the World. The resulting key lessons, practices, and country cases from diverse ecosystems, regions, and scales geneSide rate knowledge, practice, partnerships, and incentives to enhance adaptation efforts. The session will highlight opportunities for accelerating climate action through nature-based solutions. Additionally, the event will feature case studies demonstrating cutting-edge climate adaptation practices, scalable approaches to climate resilience, and how they can be implemented and expanded globally. One such practice is paludiculture on formerly drained peatlands which can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote agricultural production, and create business opportunities, jobs, and sustainable livelihoods for diverse communities, all while contributing to global climate adaptation efforts.
